The effect of newly developed dental orientation equipment for orthodontic use on human oral flora cells was assessed through cytotoxicity testing. The work was carried out with the Department of Orthodontics, Faculty of Dentistry, Biruni University.
Material extracts were applied to the cells at a range of concentrations, with technical replicates and control groups run within the same experimental set-up for every concentration. Keeping everything in one set-up is what allows any difference between groups to be attributed to the material rather than to the conditions.
Dose–response analysis established the relationship between concentration and cell viability, and the significance of the differences between groups was tested statistically. The aim was to produce measurable, reportable evidence of the material's cellular safety profile.
