Molecular Biologist
Şevval Avcı
Biruni University, Molecular Biology and Genetics (2022 – ongoing)
Takes part in cell culture, viability assays and fluorescence imaging work.
About
Şevval takes part in NeoPreklinik's cell culture and imaging work. She is a final-year student of Biruni University's Molecular Biology and Genetics programme, taught entirely in English.
Her laboratory experience covers cell culture — seeding, passaging, medium preparation and cryopreservation — along with MTT cell viability assays, immunofluorescence staining and fluorescence microscopy imaging. During her internship at a veterinary laboratory she gained experience in complete blood counts, clinical biochemistry and urinalysis, peripheral blood smear evaluation, PCR and stem cell work.
She was part of the team that reached the finals of the Teknofest Biotechnology Innovation Competition with a gene editing project targeting ALS. She served as vice-president and mentoring team captain of Biruni University's Molecular Biology and Genetics Society.
